Description of the Occurrence
For the Arctic region as whole, 2020 was the second warmest year on record, with a surface temperature anomaly of 2.2°C above the 1981‒2010 average. The year was marked by exceptional warmth over Siberia, where annual temperature anomalies reached more than 6°C above average, the largest anomalies worldwide (Copernicus, Climate Change Service).
