The International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) assigned the "Yellow" category to this disaster that caused flooding and landslides across most areas of Ecuador, affecting 7,270 people overall, and causing 28 deaths, 52 injured, and one person missing in Quito (for more details, please refer to the triggering natural hazard).

Consequences

Description of the Consequences
During the mudslide, a rock struck and ruptured a part of the heavy crude pipeline, owned by the private company OCP. As a result of the pipeline rupture, oil spilled within a protected area of the country's Amazon rainforest, affecting the flora and fauna in the region.
